Our commitment to quality

Working on many different farming operations over the years has given us a great insight into what works and what doesn’t when it comes to rural fencing and earthmoving.

We understand the importance of delivering a end product that not only looks great but most importantly functions well.

Customer satisfaction is something we pride ourselves on, we strive to approach all projects with an emphasis on delivering a professional, quality service while maintaining competitive pricing.

How we started

Hughes Fencing & Earthworks was born in 2017 out of a passion for New Zealand's rural industry and implementing quality fencing and earthmoving solutions.

In started at Lincoln University in 2010, however the Canterbury earthquakes put a small roadblock in my time there. I spent 8 months working for a Fencing Contractor down at Lake Tekapo, this is where my passion for fencing started. I then headed back to uni completing a Diploma in Agriculture and Farm Management. During my uni holidays I would work at Brooksdale Station and Flock Hill Station.

After I finished at Lincoln, I then spent a few years working on a cropping and dairy support farm just out of Hororata, ending up being in charge of the day to day running of dairy support side of the business.

Although I enjoyed my time farming, I still had the passion for the fencing industry, so when the opportunity arose, I landed a job as an on-farm fencer at Glenthorne Station. After two years there, I was promoted as the Head Fencer.

On the 2nd of February 2017, Hughes Fencing & Earthworks was officially born, starting from humble beginnings as a one man band. Since then, our team has continued to grow and we have invested in modern machinery over the years.

We appreciate every single client and the work that we are able to complete for them. Please reach out if you think we might be able to help you with our services. We are happy to tailor our work to your specific needs.
